La Cortina

Inspired by the subject my late grandfather researched most of his life – fluid mechanics – this mural captures the motion of fluids when forces like wind, currents and gravity interact with them.

The name La Cortina came after a conversation with one of the women who's been working that street for years, whereby she observed that the mural acts as a curtain (“cortina” in Spanish) to hide what’s behind it. This beautiful sentiment can be applied literally – acting as a physical barrier to what's behind it – as well as metaphorically – covering some of the realities that this street, and its workers, see on a daily basis.

Location: Valencia, Spain
