Doors of Belgium

13.12.18

Doors are such a gateway – pun intended – into understanding the history and architecture of a country. Throughout Leuven, Brussels and Antwerp you can find a vast range of doors reflecting its eclectic architectural styles, from historical to modern, wood-carved to iron cast, organic to geometric, and ornamental to simple.

One thing that really stood out were the gorgeous doorknobs, many an art piece in their own right.

And most unique to the country were the mail slips within the doors, many of which were labelled with beautiful typography (one of which I used as the basis for this lettering piece).
